You are invited to slow down and immerse your senses in nature! Different from a hike, this guided Nature Therapy walk will offer a series of invitations aimed at helping you connect with the natural environment, your inner-self and with others on the walk. Some of the time will be spent in place, some moving at a slow pace. Nature and Forest Therapy is the Western adaptation of Shinrin-yoku (forest bathing). Studies show that participating in Nature Therapy walks can lead to improved immune function, cardiovascular health as well as reduced anxiety and depression.
Deepening our connection with the Natural World also leads us to care more about its well being. It's a relational practice. Why not come and give it a try - the only thing you have to lose is stress!
Laurel Martin is a certified Forest and Nature Therapy guide who received her training through the ANFT (Association for Nature and Forest Therapy) in 2025. She offers scheduled public walks as well as private walks geared towards team building or family/friends events. Laurel is happiest when immersed in the forest and she loves 'opening the door' for others to experience the therapeutic power of nature.
This program is part of Oxford Reads, our County-wide community book club in partnership with Woodstock Public Library! The 2026 winning title is How to Survive a Bear Attack by Claire Cameron. To learn more or see other participating events, visit www.oxfordreads.ca
